As I mentioned above, today I am highlighting a post from It's An Itchy Little World that was written/compiled by my friend Jennifer (with her permission, of course), which means that I will disabling comments here again so that you can go to her site and share some comment love directly on the original post and check out all the valuable information and resources she has there.  You won't be sorry you did, I promise!

Here is just a snippet of the post:

Today it hit me – my little boy will be starting school in the fall. In only three months he’ll be a preschooler, riding the bus and everything. He’s totally ready. I’m not.
I’m sure ALL parents are nervous about their kid’s starting school. Some of the things they worry about are:
  • Will they like school?
  • Will they be safe?
  • Will they get along with all the other kids?
I’m certainly worried about those things, but add to that the worries about food allergies."
Your mind is already reeling, right?  You can either relate or empathize in some form, I'm sure.  I know I have met so many parents with kids with different allergies, diabetes, special needs, etc. and I have even dealt with food allergies myself and watched my middle kid try to manage his functional hypoglycemia with our help and we all have the same unanswered questions roaming through our minds: "Will my kids (I) be safe in this area, too?" and "What do I do to prepare myself and the school (church, work, etc.)?"  It is a lot to deal with at times and can be overwhelming, and the worry Jennifer struggles with is very normal and natural.

Jennifer very candidly explains her fears and how she has helped herself prepare for that first day of school moment and offers some great links and advice on both how to prepare yourself and the school.  It is simply a must read for all those who have kids with allergies, eczema and/or asthma or any special needs, honestly, since the same principles can be applied across the board.

What are those tips and links?  Well, you're just going to have to go over there and read all about it! ;)  Trust me - it is worth your time, and you will want to pass the link along!
